'Slumdog Millionaire', the Academy Award-winning best picture of the year, will hit Chinese screens March 26, an official said Wednesday.
"The movie will be available at cinemas nationwide," said Zhang Xiaosong, an official with the China Film Group Corporation (CFGC).
Weng Li, spokesman of CFGC, said in February that the Mumbai-based film was imported because "its artistic value has already been proven by the Oscars. Its theme is positive, healthy and inspirational."
"Slumdog Millionaire", a low-budget production depicting a rags-to-riches love story, swept the Oscar ceremony with 10 nominations. It ended up bagging eight honours including best picture, best director and best editing.
A.R. Rahman became the first Indian to win two Oscars for his score in "Slumdog Millionaire" and for the film's theme song
"Jai Ho".
"Slumdog Millionaire" is the tale of an 18-year-old slumdweller who goes on to become a millionaire by winning a quiz show.
