Rahman’S Double Treat Victory With Grammy Awards

Jai Ho! The Madras Mozart brings two more honors for India. Yeah! It’s all about winning both categories at 52nd Grammy Awards held this evening at Los Angeles. This is most the prestigious award about honoring the ace musical genre on various criteria.
A.R. Rahman’s ‘Jai Ho’ song from Slumdog Millionaire was nominated for two categories: Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media and Best Song Written for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media.
The entire team of ‘Jai Ho’ was honored for the second song for the best lyrics, appealing theme and good music. The song is penned by Gulzar, A.R. Rahman and Tanvi Shah while Sukhwinder Singh, Tanvi Shah, Mahalaxmi Iyer & Vijay Prakash have crooned the song along with A.R. Rahman.Previously, Rahman had the best privilege of pioneering as a first Indian to win academy awards and this time it’s obviously with Grammy awards as well. 'A.R. Rahman' wins Grassroot Grammy at Nashville, Tennessee

Double Oscar winning music composer A.R. Rahman has won the Grassroot Grammy for the soundtrack of the Tamil film Varalaru in the ‘Best Indian album’ category at the ‘2009 Just Plain Folks Music Award’ held in Nashville, US on 29 August 2009. He got nominated along with Maestro Illayaraja and Krosswindz in the same category.

Oscar winning composer A.R. Rahman will be doing a peace concert in January 2010 in Australia. The concert will be held at Parramatta Park in Sydney on January 16, 2010.

"Michael Jackson" dead

Los Angeles - Pop icon Michael Jackson died of an apparent heart attack early this morning (India time) after he collapsed and was rushed to hospital. The legendary singer, 50, was confirmed dead shortly after reaching hospital. Jackson went into cardiac arrest and had to receive CPR in the ambulance.

This has come as a shock to MJ fans across the globe and most Indians in their 30's can surely even sing most songs from his 1984 hit album Thriller! His "moon walk" is still something that kids across the globe try and emulate. His memory will live on for many years to come.

Joe Jackson, his father, told multiple news sources at that time that his son "is not doing well:. Even earlier, when paramedics responded to a 911 call, he was reportedly not breathing.

Michael Jackson was born in Indiana in 1958. He rose to fame as part of the successful pop group The Jackson Five, formed with his brothers in 1967. The group went on to earn four number one hits in 1970 alone and the 12-year-old Jackson became the undeniable star of the group. In 1972, Jackson enjoyed his first solo hit with the song “Ben.”

Six years later, he made his film debut in “The Wiz,” where he renewed his friendship with producer Quincy Jones. Collaborating with Jones, Jackson went on to become remarkably successful with his solo efforts “Off The Wall” in 1979 and “Thriller” in 1982. From there, Jackson went on to become the undeniable “King of Pop,” winning seven Grammy awards for “Thriller” alone.

During the 1980s, he became an icon with a distinct style of fashion and performing as well, wearing one sparkling glove, bejewelled military clothing and short pants with socks. It was around this time that Jackson began experimenting with excessive cosmetic surgery, including lightening of his skin.

Despite his many controversies and troubles, he was always a star and with this, the world has lost another legend.
