IPL does not faze Tamil movie industry

The first season of IPL may have affected the 2008 box office, but this has not deterred Kollywood from lining up some big movies for release during IPL season 2. Could it be because of the change of venue of the current IPL season to South Africa?

Whatever the reasons, it looks like the summer of 2009 is going to be super hot with some amazing movies lined up. Some of the movies expected to release are Jai starrer Vaamanan, Jeevan's Krishna Leelai, Lawrence and a bevy of beauties in Rajathi Raja, Prasanna-Sandya starrer Manjal Veyil, Pasupathy-Jyothirmayee starrer Vedigundu Murugesan, Cheran-Padmapriya's period flick Pokkisham and Vijaykant's family drama Mariyathai. Also lined up are debutant director Saroj Kumar's Poorkkalam and Vivekanandam-Veerasingham duo's Madhiya Chennai starring all newcomers.

The summer will also see the release of the much-awaited Vikram-Shriya starrer Kanthaswamy and the Arya-Trisha starrer Sarvvam.

So come summer, Tamil Nadu will be rocked by amazing movies, IPL matches and the Lok Sabha elections!
