Double Oscar winning music composer A.R. Rahman has won the Grassroot Grammy for the soundtrack of the Tamil film Varalaru in the ‘Best Indian album’ category at the ‘2009 Just Plain Folks Music Award’ held in Nashville, US on 29 August 2009. He got nominated along with Maestro Illayaraja and Krosswindz in the same category.
