The "Tomb Raider" star is a goodwill ambassador for the UN and spends much of her time championing the rights of refugees and dedicating herself to philanthropic activities.
She is now reportedly planning to quit acting so she can concentrate full time on her political ambitions, reports the Daily Express.
"(She) has admitted she's getting bored with Hollywood. She said she's now got her sights set on Washington. She is passionate about people's rights, war and justice and thinks she can get more hands-on and make even more of a difference by getting into politics," said a source.
"She admires (US President Barack) Obama and thinks she could make a big difference if she were in his position. I would place a huge wager on her becoming the first female president in the next 20 years. She's very determined," the source added.
